A friend sent to me the press release letter from Rickey Henderson’s Daughter Alexis Henderson regarding the funeral information mess. Here it is, in full:

SUBJECT: Clarification Regarding False Reports of Rickey Henderson Funeral Service Oakland, California – The family of Rickey Henderson wishes to formally address and clarify the misinformation circulating about a purported funeral service for the legendary baseball player.

Contrary to reports from various news outlets and social media channels, there is absolutely no funeral service scheduled for Rickey Henderson this Sunday at the Paramount Theatre. This erroneous information has caused unnecessary confusion and distraction during an already difficult time of grief and mourning for Rickey’s loved ones, friends, and fans. We understand that some individuals have traveled great distances in support, believing the false reports, and
we deeply regret any distress that this situation has caused.

The Henderson family has confirmed that they have no association with the false information and are grateful for the outpouring of love and support from the community. They ask for privacy as they navigate this time of loss and remember Rickey’s remarkable legacy both on and off the field.

We urge everyone to refrain from spreading unverified information and to respect the family’s wishes during this sensitive period. For accurate updates and information, please refer to official channels.

This is the email I sent to Ms. Henderson:

Dear Ms. Henderson,

First, my condolences on the passing of a Legend and a very kind person, and your Father.

Second, I must explain that the way I found out about first his passing and second, the funeral, was in the first case a text message by a friend of mine who never once since 1991, gave me bad information. So, I made the video blog that reported the sad news. But regarding the funeral, another friend who’s a reader of Zennie62 content sent me the NBC Bay Area Report.

Then I was informed that some pointed to me, and NOT NBC Bay Area; meanwhile, I am wondering why no one mentioned The Paramount Theater. I write that because members of the Paramount Theater Board had started social media and phone whispers that the news was not true, when they should have issued a press release to start with.

Given that The Paramount Theater. was the news focus, the actions of the Board were irresponsible.
