Super Bowl XLVII may come down to dress. In the tradition of the game, the team that comes dressed for business wins. But the catch is, most of the time, both opponents have arrived wearing nice clothing. The San Francisco 49ers under Jim Harbaugh broke that trend, showing up Sunday as causal as the San Francisco Bay Area lifestyle.
That these 49ers are different from the rest of the league, and indeed from the Niners of the late Head Coach Bill Walsh is evident from the photo of QB Colin Kaepernick, who got ready to go, looking like he’d just got out of bed.
By direct contrast, The Baltimore Ravens arrived today in business causal – grey suits, no tie, smooth. If we’re judging the game by clothing, the Ravens are light years ahead.
But then, if it’s true that thinking about what to wear takes away from thinking about the game, the 49ers may be ahead of the NFL.
Again.
Stay tuned.
