Carly Rae Jepsen Fighting Two Plagiarism Accusations

Facebook

Carly Rae Jepsen, the singer and creative mind behind the hit song “Call Me Maybe,” is, along with key members of her team, being sued on accusations of plagiarism by AZA, who sings “Hunky Santa” and is known for the album AZA Highspeed. Carly has denied the lawsuit’s claims.

But in research for this blog post, a second lawsuit turned up, and it was filed on October 12, 2012, just less than a month before this lawsuit by AZA.

Here’s AZA at The Night Of 100 Stars Party from 2011:

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Huntsville, Ala-based singer-songwriter Allyson Nichole Burnett, is suing Carly Rae Jepsen and Owl City, along with Universal Music Group, Songs Music Publishing and Schoolboy Records, ACAP and SESAC – the same group AZA’s suing. Ms. Burnett says “Good Times” has many similarities to her 2010 song “AH, It’s a Love Song.” Matt Thiessen and Brian Lee, who wrote “Good Times,” were also mentioned in that suit.

That makes two separate plagiarism accusations in just less than one month.
