The Oakland Mayor’s Race just got even more crowded, and beyond the addition of Oakland’s At Large Councilmember Rebecca Kaplan last Thursday.
With the addition of Kaplan, Saied Karamooz, and Eric Wilson, and the loss of Bain Capital Page Askew, there are 19 people running to be Mayor of Oakland as of this writing, with still time to file until July 31st, and with the “Ouan Accident” scandal threatening to serve as an open door for even more people to run for the office, that number could go higher.
Oh, here’s the official candidate’s list: Oakland Elections 2014.
But who’s Saied Karamooz and who’s Eric Wilson?
The only “Saied Karamooz” listed in Oakland is “Saied R Karamooz,” who is married to a Dr. Vida Karamooz, and both have lived in Oakland for the past three years. The only hint of involvement in the community is a stated desire to join the Friends of Jack London, which they did in 2012.
Other than that, there’s no website or any other online marking regarding a run for Mayor of Oakland, except the filing with the City of Oakland.
Who’s Eric Wilson?
There’s also no listing of an Eric Wilson running for Mayor of Oakland, other than the City’s listing, and a copy of his 501 document online, which is what you need to submit to get your name listed as an official candidate who’s permitted to raise money. Here’s the doc:
Eric Wilson For Oakland Mayor 501 Doc
Note that it’s filled out in a rather sloppy way and was done on May 28th of this year, which was about over a week ago.
So, Kaplan, Karamooz, and Wilson are the new entries. For some reason, I think we’ll get two more before all is said and done. I’ll update this entry with more information as it comes.
Stay tuned.
