Joe Webb’s horrible effort of 11 of 30 passes for 180 yards, one interception and one touchdown is a reflection on journeyman Offensive Coordinator Bill Musgrave.
It doesn’t matter that Webb didn’t throw a pass during the regular season, what matters is that Musgrave did not make the game easy for Webb to play. Rather than have him play formations that made the Packers defense spread out and not focus on he or running back Adrian Peterson, Musgrave played the Vikings standard offense.
Rather than install pass plays that made an open receiver a certainty, Musgrave made Webb think – that’s the last thing you want your QB to do if he’s had no game time experience for the season before the playoffs.
It was obvious Webb was not prepared to play in it.
Joe Webb is not a rookie – he’s been in the league for three years now and he should be ready for games. That he’s not reflects on the Vikings coaching staff. Period.
Musgrave must be replaced or Vikings Head Coach Leslie Frazier will find that Musgrave cost him his own job next year.
