Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2012 Still Featuring Skinny Women

The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show topped the ratings once again in 2012, just as in 2011 , and once again this blogger skipped watching it. Victoria’s Secret features skinny, non-athletic women and the time has come to put effort and money behind the advancement of a female image that’s obviously strong and sexy.

It’s not hard to do.

Promoting strong, sexy women has nothing but good results: the end of the message that a woman has to be super-skinny; a demotion of dangerous some women take to get a super-skinny body; greater self-esteem for women who look athletic; the reduction of the idea that a woman has to look like she can be pushed around to be considered desirable by a man.

The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show does none of that, yet it gets great ratings. But the ratings don’t come because the women are skinny, the ratings come because the women are wearing next to nothing on national television.
