AOL Backs Rush Limbaugh; Why?

UPDATE: AOL DUMPS RUSH LIMBAUGH ONE DAY LATER.

AOL, the web portal once called America Online, backs Rush Limbaugh, and has not turned away from sponsoring his show, even after Rush called Georgetown University Law Student Sandra Fluke a “slut” and a “prostitute” on his radio show Wednesday, starting a firestorm of criticism and the loss of nine sponsors.

This blogger firs saw the news of AOL supporting Rush Limbaugh installed deep within a blog post called “Limbaugh Advertisers: We Still Won’t Sponsor Rush Anymore (UPDATED) .” So while, according to The Huffington Post “Mortgage lender Quicken Loans, mattress retailers Sleep Train and Sleep Number, online data backup service provider Carbonite, software maker Citrix Systems Inc., online legal document services company LegalZoom and flower company ProFlowers” dumped Rush, AOL remains a sponsor.

What’s more amazing is AOL managed to escape bad comments or negative press – at least until this blog post.

And the AOL product that Rush is supporting is called “AOLTechGuru” where the tag line reads “AOL Tech Guru will help your computer run like me — at peak performance!” What it should have added was “peak misogynistic performance.”

AOL should dump Rush Limbaugh.

Stay tuned.
