The SEC Championship pitting #2 Alabama v. #3 Georgia has been underway for an hour and without a score of any kind until four minutes ago, when Georgia scored first on a 29-yard touchdown pass from Georgia QB Arron Murray to TE Jay Rome, who took advantage of Alabama’s safety moving up, having been caught by Murray’s play fake. The play was another example in why Georgia leads the nation in passing efficiency, but what set it up was a bit of trickery.
Facing a 4th and 10 at the Alabama 36, Georgia called a pass out of punt formation. The throw from Arthur Lynch to Sanders Cummings caught Alabama off-guard, and set up The Bulldogs for the eventual score.
And while this blogger types, it’s a good time to explain how lame it is not to be at The Georgia Dome for the game, when I’m in town and had the idea of doing so for months.
Don’t look now, Alabama’s at the Georgia 9.
Stay tuned.
