Parker, Schaaf, Tuman for Oakland Mayor? Yes. Bryan Parker, Libby Schaaf, Joe Tuman for Mayor of Oakland. Again: Bryan Parker, Libby Schaaf, Joe Tuman for Mayor of Oakland.
I made those choices a year ago and have not seen a reason to back away from them. All three reflect my values of professionalism and integrity. Bryan Parker is the perfect mix of insider and outsider. But that is not to say the other candidates are bad.
Mayor Jean Quan and Rebecca Kaplan are two elected officials and friends I dearly love. Mayor Quan has grown into the position but is not as decisive as I would like. But I have high praise for her efforts to end human trafficking. I also have high praise for her work in the matter of sports in Oakland.
Kaplan is nice to everyone and wants to make all happy. If she is elected that NFL style of approach will make Oakland more service friendly.
I will say this about Dan Siegel: his laser focus on progressive politics could make him the winner. But I feel he is focused too much on that and not enough on running the city.
