On Friday morning, June 30th, the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Joint Powers Authority voted to have the case of Forever Oakland – We Stand With Oakland on the July agenda for an action vote. The Coliseum JPA, as it’s called, did this without disagreement or negative input.

The fact that the effort by Ray Bobbitt and Griz Jones made it this far, and without the visible political obstacles that normally trip up efforts of this kind in Oakland, says a lot for how much everyone respects the job Forever Oakland – We Stand With Oakland did in securing sports lawyers James Quinn and Eric Hochstadt to kick off the cause of keeping the Oakland Raiders in what many call “The Town.”

As Coliseum JPA Executive Director Scott McKibben said, the next step is to present the case for having the management arm of the facility join Forever Oakland – We Stand With Oakland as plaintiffs against the NFL and the Oakland Raiders.

The meeting itself went according to the agenda, starting with the mention of the Raiders owing the JPA almost $1 million.

Here’s the Forever Oakland Facebook video from the Coliseum JPA Meeting:

Do They Hqve A Case?

A lot of people have ask me if Forever Oakland – We Stand With Oakland has a chance? My response now is that those people should be asking if the NFL has a chance? This entire matter is rife with examples of the Raiders not working in good faith with the City of Oakland, the County of Alameda, and what have been called “The East Bay Entities.”

The item is to be placed on the agenda for the JPA’s July meeting, and for the JPA to determine if the matter should be placed on city and county agendas for action.

Stay tuned.
