nfl The NFL Draft may be on the move out of New York City for 2015, and for the first time in NFL History. According to Yahoo Sports, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said to Rich Eisen on the NFL Network, that the league has talked to representatives the mayors of Chicago and Los Angeles, both of which are aggressively pursuing the NFL Draft to be held in their cities. And L.A. doesn’t even have an NFL team.

That increases the list of cities that have been mentioned as possible locations for the 2015 NFL Draft and NFL Drafts in the future. Early last week, the news was that Dallas was a possible location for the event, and at Cowboys Stadium, where upwards of 80,000 people could be on hand for it.

So, with all of these cities trying to get into the mix to host the 2015 NFL Draft, why not Oakland?

Oakland has the Oakland Raiders and the San Francisco 49ers are just across the Bay. The NFL Draft could be held at Oracle Arena, which seats 19,000, is just minutes from Oakland Airport, and a BART or shuttle ride away from San Francisco International Airport. Moreover, Oracle Arena is just a stones throw away from a number of top quality hotels between it and the Oakland Airport, including the Oakland Airport Hilton.

The NFL should award cities that have NFL teams. Oakland’s one of them. Los Angeles should not have it so easy.

Stay tuned.
