David Letterman Announces His Retirement From The Late Show David Letterman shocked his fans and the World when he said that he was retiring in 2015 during the taping of his Thursday show.

David is the longest- serving late night host in TV history. My recollection of David’s emergence goes back to how many believed he, and not Jay Leno, would take over the Tonight Show from Johnny Carson. But the prize, along with NBC’s fickle behavior, went to Jay Leno.

The battle was chronicled in one if my all time favorite TV show movies called The Late Shift in 1996. But David Letterman emerged from that eventually better off, even if he did not think so at the time.

Wow. An American Legend calls it quits. http://ift.tt/1mHyy41
