Star Trek: Into Darkness is creeping up on us Trekkers in a J.J. Abrams sort of way. The poster for the next installment in the series of J.J. Abrams movies, posted by various publications starting just about midnight PST, has already caused “Star Trek Into Darkness” to appear as a Twitter Top Trend.
What this proves, if anyone needs a demonstration, is that the hunger for “Star Trek” has not died one bit. From the Zennie62 “Kirk v. Picard” debate video on a small scale….
… to this poster on a larger one, the Star Trek universe is alive, and well, and known.
It also shows a trip into a Star Trek movie that may be the darkest ever made. Here is a video from the YouTube Channel Star Trek 1 that shows on-the-set scenes of combat between Spock (Zachary Quinto) and the villain Gary Mitchell (played by Benedict Cumberbatch and reportedly based on the Gary Mitchell from the episode “Where No Man Has Gone Before”), and Uhura firing a phaser, and both on some kind of wreckage. The video was uploaded this last Summer, but seen only 15,000 times as of this writing:
