Clowney Hit – BSC Rose Bowl David Shaw – Heather Cox Are You Kidding Me http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JeU_sWHxFEo

Clowney Hit. Clowney Hit. Clowney Hit. That’s all you hear since South Carolina Defensive End Jadeveon Clowney flew past an attempt to trap him on a running play and hit Vincent Smith so hard his helmet flew off, he fumbled the football, and lost eight yards in the process.

It was a hit that was totally legal and within the scope of the game of football. Jadeveon Clowney came in low and got to full speed so fast the entire play happened in less than a second. Smith didn’t have time to even get to take the handoff and set his feet before they were knocked out from under him.

In case you’re wondering Jadeveon Clowney is a junior defensive end who’s not declared himself eligible for the NFL Draft as of this writing. This blogger says stay in school one more year – get that degree.

David Shaw Did Not Diss ESPN’s Heather Cox.

Stanford Head Coach David Shaw did not diss ESPN’s Sideline Reporter Heather Cox, and where Cox could be heard saying “Are you kidding me.” As you can see, Coach Shaw was being handled by what appears to be the Stanford Sports Information Director. But then Cox was asking Shaw some rather insulting questions during the Rose Bowl Game, like “Stanford hasn’t won since 1972..” and so on.

So who could blame Shaw if he did. But Coach Shaw’s a class act – he didn’t.

Coach Shaw and Louisville Head Coach Charlie Strong are two black head coaches who won in the BCS when few gave them a chance to do so. The fact is, NCAA Football, including Cal, has to stop thinking of a black head coach as “giving a guy a chance,” and as “this is the best person for the job.”

More on this later.

Stay tuned.
