Muammar Gaddafi was killed by Libyan Rebels earlier today, various news sources have reacted similarly to the reaction that came from Osama Bin Laden’s death. The Libyan people are shown as being very happy now. The headline story for CNN, MSNBC, FOX, ABC, CBS and BBC were all that Gaddafi was killed – not all the sites spelled his name the same way, but the message was clear: Gaddafi is gone and people are celebrating.
It’s kind of sick to celebrate someone’s death, but maybe the Libyans aren’t so much celebrating his death, but celebrating what happens as a result of his death: chance for real democracy.
President Barack Obama gave a speech at the White House and CNN had the footage where he says that Gaddafi’s death marks the end of a “long and painful chapter” for Libya.
Another article on CNN is titled “Celebrations Erupt in Libya.” The people of Libya truly are jubilant because of this.
