This is an exciting development and special congratulations to Cris Carter, Bill Parcells and Warren Sapp in particular, because they have meant a large amount to the success of the Minnesota Vikings and Tampa Bay Buccaneers for Carter and Sapp, and Parcells to each team he’s coached.
Warren Sapp, in particular, had his coming out party on August 31, 1997 against the San Francisco 49ers. No one gave the Tony Dungy-coached Tampa Bay Bucs a chance, but the defense, led by Sapp, embarrassed the Niners. On that day, Sapp personally took them apart.
Larry Allen ushered in the era of the super-big, super-strong offensive lineman when he played for The Dallas Cowboys. Allen could bench press 700 pounds. Think about that. That’s me three times, plus.
Curley Cupp was the Houston Oilers famed nosetackle – the one who really put his stamp on the 3-4 in the NFL.
Dave Robinson was the famed Green Bay Packers Linebacker of the Vince Lombardi era and then went over to play for the George Allen-coached Washington Redskins.
And a last word about Parcells as a major motivator and builder of teams in New York: his style and way represented the best of New York and New Jersey. He was beyond football
Congratulations to all of the new HOF members!
Stay tuned.
