Victor Crowley’s the man-monster focus of the horror movie series created whole-cloth from the brain of Adam Green. Crowley’s story is really a very sad one: he starts the story as a deformed boy, teased by kids in the area. Young Victor was chased into a shack, which the mean kids set fire to while he was in it. The hard-to-blog part is where his father, in trying to rescue him, uses an ax to chop down the door, not realizing his son was on the other side of it.
(As a note, the way I’m wired is such that I could never imagine such an event. I think it has to do with being made fun of by Chicago kids when I was a boy on the South Side, and feeling outcast and being ostracized, and then bullied for money by school kids. Life did not improve for me until we left Chicago when I was 12 years old. So, it’s for that reason, the origin of Victor Crowley is a sad one for me.)
At any rate, Victor’s father passed on, but unknown to him, he survived, but grew into a man-monster who terrorized the swamps of Louisiana. (Can’t say I root against him.)
Hatchet And Zennie62
If you recall, this video-blogger had the fun assignment of riding with the cast of Hatchet II at 2010 Comic Con, and with hilarious results:
Now, after a summer of filming outside New Orleans, Hatchet III is finished. This new version has Green back, but in the form of consultant, not director. Harris joins Kane Hodder, and Derek Mears (Friday the 13th 2009), Caroline Williams (Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2), Sean Whalen (The People Under the Stairs) and others. Veteran camera-person BJ McDonnell (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, Project X, Easy A, Hatchet 2) makes his directing debut on Hatchet 3.
Did Danielle get Crowley? Part of me hopes so; the other part of me hopes not.
Stay tuned.
