Why Stuart Abdo Is Wrong About Jameis Winston and Shannon Sharpe In Email To Zennie Abraham of Zennie62 I do not know who Stuart Abdo is other than that he sent me an email that was not kindly worded. It was based on my take that Shannon Shape, NFL Hall of Fame Tight End, and now media personality (and who I briefly met thanks to my long time friend Michael Silver) is just plain wrong in attacking Saints QB (and now free agent) Jameis Winston. Briefly, Shannon said that Jameis Winston should be cut for calling a dive play out of Victory Formation to end the Falcons vs. Saints Game of a week ago, Sunday. But the Falcons threw an interception that was brought back and almost for a touchdown – missed by less than a yard. So, The Saints team led by Winston made the decision to go for the score even though Coach Dennis Allen called for a kneel down. But the players wanted to get a score for Jamaal Wiliams. As Fox Sports put it: “Leading 41-17 with 1:10 left, the Saints lined up in “victory formation” — indicating Winston intended to take a knee to run out the clock — but surprisingly handed off to Jamaal Williams for a 1-yard touchdown that made the final score 48-17. ” OK. So, to the mostly white media Jameis was public enemy on Twitter. But black reporters did not go off on him. Then there was the ESPN black personalities that have a track record of attacking black athletes, and so that is what Shannon Sharpe and Stephen A. Smith did. But I knew Shannon had a past that included a time when he backed his QB against coaches orders, and I found it: the 1988 AFC Championship Game. So, I blasted Sharp for a take that was hypocritical, and also expressed frustration with black folks attacking each other on white-owned media – saying things a white media personality would be called racist for saying. Then, this Mr. Stuart Abdo writes me saying: Incorrect facts: 1. Shannon Sharp’s NFL Career timeline seventh round of the (1990) NFL Draft He retired 14 seasons later as the all-time leader in catches, yards and touchdowns by a tight end. You list the date of his hypocrisy as occuring in 1988. . . oops mn 2. Not even doing my own due diligence, you certainly don’t understand the significance between the final game of another lost season against the lowly Atlanta Falcons helmed by Mr Winston and j. a. g. (Just another guy) running back that had 16 other games to make this remarkable achievement, and didn’t. Please forgive me for missing the memo of Winston’s promotion to player coach OC Or the ramifications of getting a first down in the final minutes of the (1988) AFC championship game against a bitter opponent the vaunted Pittsburgh Steelers. Again conference championship game with a trip to the Super Bowl, vs the final game of the season for 2 under achieving squads. Any real football person clearly understands the situation and the difference of another Hall of Fame Quarterback’s audible, to at that time, the best Tight End ever to play at the most crucial point in the most crucial game of the season. . . let’s see trip home, and a trip to the Super Bowl. . .or bad quarterback changing the play called and handing off to an even worse player, with no life or season changing implications, oh yeah getting some unworthy “Cracker Coach” fired before the charter flight home landed. That’s the purest definition of Racism/Black on Black Hate-Crime I’ve ever seen from any gainfully employed so called educated person. Your lucky I’m not your boss I’d fire you…. So, I figured I would respond because it was mean and I don’t know the man. Plus, as you know, I’m a vlogger. One of the first generation of YouTube vloggers. Green Sunday – “Protect the Win” with Pamela Price, Alameda County District Attorney

An attack on our progressive District Attorney Pamela Price is being mounted that mirrors the attack on San Francisco’s progressive DA Chesa Boudin. This appears to be part of a coordinated national attack on prosecutorial reform funded by the same corporate and pro-police deep-pocket interests that have used media blitzes to attack protestors in Black Lives Matter, to attack protestors of Cop City in Atlanta, to attack prison and police reform nationwide, and to promote the militarization of police. Their use of fear-mongering incentivizes DAs to over-charge for career advancement and is not only cruel and discriminatory, but has created a costly prison system that takes money away from our schools, our parks, and our pay checks. Alameda County voted to reform this unjust system of over-charging by DAs by electing Pamela Price, and entrenched interests of the prison industrial complex are trying to overturn that vote. The narrative put forward by those supporting the recall is that DA Price is encouraging the crime wave that we have been experiencing by abandoning the practice of enhanced charges and onerous sentencing. But if heavy-handed policing and harsh sentencing were effective policies, we would not have the current crisis, because that is what our police and prosecutors have been doing for over three decades. This recall effort will further divide the public and damage what little credibility local government has left, and is a major assault on both democracy and progressive politics. District Attorney Pamela Price talks about “Protecting the Win”, and how we can help oppose the recall attempt. This past January, Pamela Price became the first Black female District Attorney in the history of Alameda County, after winning the November, 2022 election. She survived the Ohio foster care and juvenile justice systems to graduate from Yale College and UC Berkeley School of Law. Pamela started her professional legal career as a criminal defense attorney at the Bayview Hunters Point Community Defender’s office in San Francisco. Following years of training working for small firms, Pamela started her own firm in 1991. Over the next 30 years, she represented everyday people in state and federal courts, and became a nationally recognized civil rights attorney. Specializing in employment litigation, her clients included nurses, doctors, electricians, oil workers, teachers, office workers, police officers and correctional officers from all walks of life. Her particular passion is suing the California Department of Corrections on behalf of employees, particularly women subjected to sexual harassment. Pamela is one of the founding members of the famed Bay Area choir, Vukani Muwethu, which has been singing South African freedom songs since 1986. In 2007, Pamela was appointed to serve as the Interim Executive Director of the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights in San Francisco. She later served two terms as the Co-Chair of the Board of Directors, and has been a member of the Lawyers Committee since 2006. In 2017, Pamela was honored as the Woman of the Year for Assembly District 18, for her lifetime of social justice advocacy and service to the people of Alameda County.

Why The Digital Commerce Industry Should Back The SAG-AFTRA Strike The Screen Actors Guild Strike, otherwise known as The SAG-AFTRA Strike, has received a lot of coverage, but almost little study of how an increased use of artificial intelligence would impact the bottom line of not just actors and writers, but the digital commerce industy as a whole. How? Because the digital commerce industry does make its money off celebrity. So, consider what happened when a star is no longer on the annual red carpet circuit because its studio controls that actor’s image, and can solely make money from that image, and cut out digital commerce / media organizations. The end result could be the very cratering of the celebrity content industry as we know it. Think hard about what that means. It means that photographers who make their money from celebrity sitings would realize squeezed revenues. It means the images of celebrities who were knighted in England could be made to take on actions that could cost that celebrity such a designation. The studio that controls that actor’s image could engineer such a scenario just because the actor fell into disfavor for whatever reason. Take a read at how a forfeture of a UK knighthood could happen, courtesy of the main page itself: There is an expectation that those who receive an honour are, and will continue to be, good citizens and role models. An honour can be withdrawn (or ‘forfeited’) for a variety of reasons, including criminal conviction and bringing the honours system into disrepute. Only living individuals are able to forfeit their honour. It is not possible to withdraw an honour from someone who has died. However, the Forfeiture Committee can consider specific cases where a recipient has been accused of a crime after their death, with a view to issuing a statement that confirms action would have been taken had that individual been convicted. A decision to forfeit an honour can be based on events that pre-date the award (for example, a past criminal conviction, even if spent), or conduct that occurs after the award is made. The Forfeiture Committee considers cases put to it when the holder of an honour has brought the honours system into disrepute. It will automatically consider cases where an individual: has been found guilty by the courts of a criminal offence and sentenced to a term of imprisonment of more than three months; has been censured or struck off by the relevant regulatory authority or professional body, for actions or failures to act, especially which are directly relevant to the granting of the honour; has been found guilty by the courts of a criminal offence covered by the Sexual Offences Act 2003 (England and Wales), Sexual Offences Order 2008 (Northern Ireland) or Sexual Offences Act 2009 (Scotland); has been found to have committed a sexual act which is listed in the Acts above following a ‘trial of the facts’. The Committee is not an investigatory body – it does not decide whether or not someone is guilty or innocent of a particular act. Instead, it reflects the findings of official investigations and makes a recommendation of whether or not the honours system has been brought into disrepute. Please bear in mind that personal disputes are not likely to be a reason to forfeit an honour. The Committee’s recommendations for forfeiture are submitted through the Prime Minister to the King. If the King gives his approval, a notice of forfeiture is usually placed in the London Gazette. Note: The Forfeiture Committee Is Not An Investigative Body, Meaning The Actor Can Be Harmed Without Recourse Consider what was just presented and realize that the UK Government has not added any provisions to consider the possible negative role of artificial intelligence. Movie producer’s A.I. desires place knighted performers in harms way unless the rules are adjusted. The question is, will they be? Right now, no one knows. But what we do know is that, as of this writing, movie producers do not care to protect actors from misuse of a digital image, let alone use it to avoid paying the actor. Governments and digital commerce industry players must think completely about the rapid advance of artificial intelligence and work on legislation that protects the possibility that their very culture could be altered by images out of control of the performer. Zennie Abraham Supports AASEG & Ray Bobbitt But Concerned About Oakland Coliseum JPA ENA And Oakland Roots To clarify, there will be two ENA’s regarding Oakland Coliseum, one for African American Sports and Entertainment and the other for Oakland Roots and all at the Oakland Coliseum. That is unprecedented. I have always been in full support of AASEG but I am glad that someone I don’t know wants to make sure I fall in line. Bravo! AASEG should be over Oakland Roots, not equal. Oakland Coliseum JPA MeetIng For Sept 15th 2023 On Potential Future Of Site A Violation Of AASEG ENA The Oakland Alameda County Coliseum Joint Powers Authority is scheduled to hold it’s first meeting of the new fiscal year 2023 tomorrow at 8:30 AM. The agenda is basic: Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Authority OAKLAND-ALAMEDA COUNTY COLISEUM AUTHORITY AMENDED 1. CALL TO ORDER 2. ROLL CALL 3. OPEN FORUM 4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 5. REPORTS 5a. Executive Director Report 1. Fiscal Year 2022-2023 – Internal Budget Adjustment for Coliseum Operations 5b. General Manager Report 6. NEW BUSINESS RESOLUTION APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A SETTLEMENT AND RELEASE AGREEMENT WITH RINGCENTRAL, INC. 7. DISCUSSION Potential Future Public Uses and Functions for the Coliseum Site But it’s the last item, the “Potential Future Public Uses and Functions for the Coliseum Site” that’s to be questioned. The reason is simple: it looks, to this vlogger, like the rug is being pulled out from under the African American Sports and Entertainment Group, AKA AASEG. Why? Because the talk comes smack in the middle of the ENA or exclusive negotiating agreement regarding the Coliseum. The idea that a discussion is being scheduled implies that AASEG has not presented a tangible vision for the future of the Oakland Coliseum. I am sure that Oakland Coliseum Executive Director Henry Gardner did not intend to insult Ray Bobbitt, Alan Dones, and the rest of AASEG , but the truth about what’s happening has been pushed into our collective face by the agenda item. Note, it does not call for an update on the AASEG ENA, it calls for a discussion of possible futures for the site, which could include selling it. That’s a bad idea. The Oakland Coliseum has become the sad victim of Oakland;s over-politicization of everything. The Mayor of Oakland and the Oakland City Council have proven they do not think about the question of how to improve the decrepit stadium and arena at all. Everything has to be something like The Manhattan Project: hard to do, expensive, and because of that, never sees the light of day except in extreme cases, which Oakland has not seen. Meanwhile, little upgrades to the access areas and outside where some kind of restaurant is needed (why not make a deal with a restaurant chain and put out an RFP with some money behind it), upgrades to the kitchen, and flood control measures, as well as all of the items on that 24 year old punch-list are just crying to be done. Do we have working light-standards. And what about helping the A’s get people into the building if only so the JPA can make some sales tax revenue for the City and the County? The overall problem is that we, the JPA collectively, can’t seem to discipline its collective mind to come up with solutions to the immediate basic problems it faces. Let the AASEG do the big picture work. That’s part of its job. If the AASEG can’t do that then the Coliseum should just give it’s ENA to me, and I’ll get the ball rolling. The AASEG has allowed Oakland’s toxic politics to push it out of the way of its own project. Heck, the Oakland Roots have more juice than the AASEG and are slowly weaseling its way into a kind of outside raid on the Coliseum. Sorry no other way to put it. Anyone who knows the situation is aware that the land the Oakland Roots want to use is a prime flood problem waiting to happen. On bad rain days it’s going to remind everyone of what’s happening, or happened, to Libya. When are we going to learn? It’s like we have a cast of characters that just likes to get its head hurt by slamming it against the wall because it thinks that’s how one stops a headache. The discussion should be about the AASEG out of respect for the ENA it has with the Coliseum JPA and its broad scope, and nothing else. Stay tuned.
