Novak Djokovic won Wimbledon 2011 over Rafael Nadal 6-4 , 6-1 , 1-6, 6-3, as Djokovic wiped the court with Nadal. At one point, the chance Nadal would comeback seemed so hopeless it looked like the Spanish tennis champion was going to start crying right there during the match.
It was so bad, Twitterverse members took pitty, tweeting a number of reactions with the term “Poor Nadal.” In fact, some of the tweets, but not the majority of them, reflect a disturbing pattern of insults and downright rudeness. Indeed, it seems to be a trend in a number of places, and marks a frightful turn in social behavior. But that’s for another blog. Here’s a sample:

Congratulations to Novak Djokovic of Serbia on his Wimbledon 2011 win, and first one in his career! As for “Poor Nadal,” he will be back, and many are correct: it’s good for him to lose – makes him hungry for the next go round.
Stay tuned.
