Weiner Resigns

Other than the fact that Weiner’s resignation will make it easier for another Democrat to beat a Republican, Weiner’s resignation seems a bit ridiculous. So he tweeted a picture of his private parts and lied about it – oh well. Does that really require a resignation? Honestly? It just doesn’t make sense, but maybe he needs help?

CBS News reports that Weiner attempted to resign with dignity, but hecklers wouldn’t have it. Hecklers chose to disturb Weiner’s news conference:

“Instead, heckling and catcalls disrupted his news conference, creating a noisy, circus-like atmosphere that overshadowed the main event. It was an ungracious end, a fitting metaphor for the troubled congressman’s career.”

That is inappropriate; people should at least show a little bit of respect for the man trying to apologize for what he did. I mean – think about Eliot Spitzer.

Nancy Pelosi supported his decision:

“Congressman Weiner exercised poor judgment in his actions and poor judgment in his reaction to the revelations,” House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi said in a statement released moments after Weiner spoke. “Today, he made the right judgment in resigning.”

The President had also mentioned that if he were in Weiner’s position he would resign.

Now that it’s over let’s see how long Weinergate is talked about.
