Donald Trump’s Thoughts on Mitt Romney

In a video on CNN Donald Trump is referring to Mitt Romney as a small business man:

It may not be a direct insult on Mitt Romney, because everyone seems small and insignificant in net worth when compared to Donald Trump, but Trump should probably stop thinking that he is so much better than everyone else – didn’t he learn anything from Comedy Central’s Roast?

The British publication The Telegraph reports:

He referred to Mr Romney, a successful former venture capitalist who spent $50 million of his own money on his failed 2008 campaign for the Republican nomination, as a “small business guy.”

“He was a hedge fund. He was a funds guy. He walked away with some money from a very good company that he didn’t create. My worth is many, many, many times Mitt Romney,” Mr Trump told CNN.

“I’ve built a great company, and one of the beauties of, frankly, if and when I announce, some time prior to June, you will see how big my company is, because it’s much bigger and much more powerful and much stronger than anyone really knows,” said Mr Trump, whose personal wealth has been estimated at $2.7 billion (£1.6 billion) by Forbes magazine.

Best known to Americans as the loud-mouthed, big-haired host of the reality television show The Apprentice, where his catchphrase is “You’re fired!”, the 64-year-old magnate appears intent on standing for the 2012 nomination.

He has flirted with presidential bids before, but to the dismay of Republican bosses and strategists, this time he has interviewed several potential campaign managers and media consultants. He has also taken soundings from religious conservative leaders, whose supporters are likely to be troubled by his three marriages and prior support for abortion.

Fox News blog interprets Trump as saying “My wallet is bigger than Romney.”
Apparently so is your ego Mr. Trump. The Roast wasn’t a humbling ceremony for you?
The blogger writes:

Trump, whose approval ratings have rocketed upward since he started hammering President Obama, yesterday turned his fire on Romney, considered by many the front-runner in a divided Republican field.

“I’m a much bigger businessman and have a much, much bigger net worth. I mean my net worth is many, many, many times Mitt Romney,” Trump told CNN’s Candy Crowley yesterday.

Trump would be the first President since Eisenhower to not hold a previously elected position before becoming president, but let’s hope it doesn’t make it that far. C’mon America, be smarter than this. If it comes down to Trump vs. Obama – I hope that the Republicans can seriously weigh out and see that Obama is more worthy of office than Trump.
