The New York Yankees win 6-3 versus the Detroit TIgers on Opening Day.
Today is basically a nationally holiday for baseball fans, walking through the hallways there are boys sitting in front of their tvs screaming and jumping. Oh, college boys, at least the Communications students will have more ideas on what news to cover.
The Week online reports that this year’s opening day was scandal free!
MLB.com focuses on The Braves:
“As his Braves teammates prepared for a frigid Opening Day at Nationals Park on Thursday morning, Jair Jurrjens completed a bullpen session that allowed him to feel more optimistic about the odds of making his scheduled season debut Wednesday in Milwaukee.
After completing a short side session in the indoor cage below the visitors’ clubhouse, Jurrjens said he felt “good,” then ran to the outfield to shag fly balls. This seemed to be encouraging for the Braves, who saw the right-hander exit his March 24 exhibition start after just one inning because of discomfort in his right side.”
