Henry Cavill and Amy Adams to star in the new Superman

CBS news online reports that in the new Superman film Henry Cavill will play Clark Kent (Superman’s alter-ego) and Amy Adams will play Lois Lane.

Zack Snyder tells MTV that he will be making the new Superman movie even more physical – and he is the same guy that directed 300 – so it must be good.

As to why he chose British actor Henry Cavill as Superman instead of his second choice Joe Manganiello of True Blood:

“Henry’s just … I love Joe too, by the way,” Snyder said. “Really he was the only other guy I was thinking of, to be honest, other than Henry. But in the end, I think Henry just has this innocence too [in addition to the look and physicality required for the role], he has both, which is tricky,” he explained. “Superman needs the teeniest bit of that. Not to be overt, but you like it to be there ever so slightly. I mean, he grew up in Kansas, that’s just true, so you need a little of that [innocence].”

Superman: Man of Steel is being shot in Chicago and will be in theaters 2012.
