Rob Gronkowski New England Patriots TE Interview After Super Bowl XLIX

Rob Gronkowski is becoming a cult figure. This is not last night’s Jimmy Kimmel interview, but the one NFL Media posted after Super Bowl XLIV.

PATRIOTS TE ROB GRONKOWSKI

(on his reaction to winning the Super Bowl) “This is an unbelievable feeling. We played such a great team game together. This is the most amazing feeling ever. What a great team victory. It’s unbelievable. This is indescribable.”

(on where he was lining up on the field) “All over the place. You’ve just got to line up everywhere and just do what we do. Everyone played together well and it was excellent. It was unbelievable.”

(on how the Patriots were able to overcome two costly turnovers) “We’ve just got to keep looking forward after every drive – score or not score, just keep on moving and just go onto the next drive and just take one play at a time.”

(on what this means for Gronkowski and the Patriots organization) “It’s unbelievable. It’s an unbelievable feeling. It means everything. This is awesome. I’ve got to go. I’ve got to celebrate.”

(on how it feels to end the game in the way that it did) “I’m excited. With that interception and you’re nervous, you don’t know what you’re thinking. Just get prepared for the final drive. Just a few seconds left, I was preparing for it. (CB Malcolm) Butler made that huge play – props to him. He works hard. He’s an unbelievable player. He made the play of the century, no doubt.”

(on what he was doing when CB Malcolm Butler made the game-sealing interception) “I was on the sideline just standing and jumping for joy when I saw the interception.”

(on what he was thinking when Seattle was on the New England 1-yard line) “Just an opportunity for our defense. Just going through my mind, just come on, turnover, turnover, interception, and it happened. It’s just unbelievable. It’s the greatest feeling ever and we just worked so hard to get here.”

(on his touchdown catch) “Just called a ‘go.’ Just attacked the defender and gave him a little move and got outside. Tom (Brady) just made a nice pass and it was a good play.”

(on Seattle WR Jermaine Kearse’s acrobatic catch that put Seattle inside the Patriots 10-yard line) “It was surreal that that even happened. I was like, man, they’ve got like about a minute left and they just made a 50-yard bomb. We thought the ball hit the ground. When we saw it happen, we just got up as an offense and was just getting ready to have a drive just in case they scored. They didn’t and the game ended. Unbelievable.”

(on Seattle throwing an interception on the goal line in the last minute of the game) “I’m not the play caller. Whatever they were calling, our defense reacted very well and made that great play.”

(on what he will be doing tonight) “We just got that little after party that the Patriots organization is throwing. I’ve just got to party with my family, my teammates, my coaches, Patriot nation. That’s how it should be.”

(on overcoming the injuries he’s battled the past few years to win the Super Bowl) “No doubt. My whole goal, my whole mission when I went down last year was to get back to this point, to get back to where I need to be to help out the team and to get to the Super Bowl. I just worked my tail off all year long to be where we are now. It just feels awesome to go through a whole season healthy and to come out healthy after a Super Bowl win. This is awesome to be able to do my job to help out the team.”

(on how special it was to be able to celebrate with his family) “It’s special to have everyone. My teammates, my family, Patriots nation, it’s awesome. Everyone’s here to celebrate with you.”

(on New England quarterback Tom Brady giving thanks in his postgame media session) “I thank everyone, too. Patriots nation for believing in us, my family for always being there supporting, my friends, my teammates for busting their tails to get to this point, working hard.”

(on how happy he is for New England quarterback Tom Brady) “I’m so happy for him. I’m happy for the whole team. It’s just great to be a part of his fourth Super Bowl victory. It’s an unbelievable experience.”

(on what caused the scuffle between teams at the end of the game) “I don’t know. They started coming at us. We were just trying to take a knee. It just happens. It’s football. Just emotions going, emotions flowing; it’s cool, all good.”

(on what he said to his parents on the field after the game) “Just gave him a big hug. Told my parents I love them. Both my mom and dad, and everything. It’s great for them to be here for the experience.”

(on what it means for him to win the Super Bowl in the state of Arizona) “It’s an unbelievable experience. I went to college right down the street. It’s a great, great, great atmosphere to start where I started in college and then win the Super Bowl down the street with the New England Patriots.”

(on how far he has come from his time as a freshman at Arizona) “Yes, I just think about it now. I just came so far from when I came to Arizona at 18 years old. I just worked my tail off to get to this point and just keep working hard and listening to my coaches to get to where I am now.”

(on Seattle’s decision to throw the ball on the goal line) “I was just praying for an interception. If they ran it, just fumble or something. They didn’t have a turnover all game and couldn’t ask for a better time for a turnover. Our defense played well and that was an unbelievable play by (cornerback Malcolm) Butler to get that turnover.”

(on winning New England’s fourth Super Bowl since 2001) “It’s unbelievable to be part of this organization. It starts with Mr. (Robert) Kraft and their family to Coach (Bill) Belichick to all the players. It’s just an honor to be a part of this organization, and all the fans, too. All the fans stick to our side and they’re always there for us.”

(on how this moment compare to how he expected it to) “I always thought about this moment. That’s when you start in the beginning of the season, this is the moment you think of, this is the moment you work for. It’s just an honor to get to the Super Bowl. It’s an honor to be able to win the game with this team; unbelievable feeling. It’s everything I expected plus more.”

(on the scuffle between teams at the end of the game) “Just the frustration between two teams. It’s football, things happen. It’s all good. They played well. They’re a hard working team. We just came out and we did what we did to get the win.”

(on what the Super Bowl win says about New England quarterback Tom Brady’s legacy) “Just unbelievable to be a part of his legacy. It just shows how much will Tom has at work. He just got us a Super Bowl win and that’s unbelievable. I know that.”

(on coming off of offseason surgery to win the Super Bowl) “That’s what makes it so special. Just coming back, fighting my way back to be with the team, to get back on the field and be able to do what I’ve got to do to help out the team.”

(on his touchdown reception) “I just attacked the defender. It was a go-route. I just gave him a little move and got around. Tom (Brady) threw a nice ball and it was a nice play.”

(on overcoming the Seattle defense) “We just went out there as a team and just executed as a team. I’m glad it looked easy because that means we’re moving the ball. We did what we did.”
