The best form of media to follow in a disaster (of sorts) like the Bay Area Storm is social media, and the platform that’s best to follow is really not one, but several, paced by YouTube and Twitter. The reason is that Twitter gives real time updates, where YouTube provides the best moving images of events.

The storm that hit this morning brought with it wind gusts of up to 70 miles per hour, and rain so intense that parking lot and streets were flooded. The San Francisco Financial District was virtually shut down as a power-outage closed out it, and most, of the City.
In Oakland, Councilmember Dan Kalb reports:
As of mid-afternoon (Thursday), Public Works crews have received more than 226 storm-related calls for service at dozens of locations across the city. Most of these were to address clogged storm drains and flooding. Twenty nine (29) trees have been
reported down, and there are three reports of mudslides, including two along Tunnel Road.Sandbags are no longer available from the Oakland Public Works agency.Oakland Public Works has distributed an estimated 21,500 sandbags and 20,000 feet of plastic sheeting in response to an unprecedented number of requests.
