Eric Gardner – Grand Jury No Indictment Of New York Cop In Eric Gardner Death
A New York Cop was not indicted by a NY Grand Jury for the death of Eric Gardner. Eric Gardner was just standing on a street corner in Stanten Island when four officers approached him and tried to arrest him for allegedly selling cigarettes on the street without charging the tax. But the video shows (and longer forms of it show) that Eric Gardner was never selling anything.
Even with this, the officers tried to forcefully arrest him, and one man Officer Daniel Pantaleo, grabbed him by the neck from behind. The resultant choke hold killed Eric Gardner.
It was widely believed that the video would cause Daniel Pantaleo to lose his job, but the jury of 14 whites, and 9 non-whites, five black, failed to come away with an indictment. Sad. Sad. Bad. Bad.
