Courtney Ruby, the Oakland City Auditor who’s running for Mayor of Oakland, isn’t content to just run a nice campaign, she has to diss someone’s efforts to bring the candidates together – eh, mine. Look, I’ve not been a fan of her running for Mayor of Oakland, because she was – by way of a report that singled out two black Oakland City Councilmembers for city staff “tampering” which is something very CM regardless of color has done in Oakland history – responsible for racially dividing Oakland City Hall in 2013.

Since then, and after an initial series of blog posts explaining why Ruby should not be running for Mayor, and why I thought she would be a bad Mayor, I elected to ease off the gas pedal. All I have asked Ruby to do is give a press conference and apologize to Larry Reid and Desley Brooks, and show she will be a leader that brings all together – she did none of that.

Instead, what Ruby did, according to a lot of people, was continue such practices as talking negatively about people who she wanted to use the City Auditor’s powers to target. There are many who work in Courtney’s office right now, that don’t like working for her. Can you imagine how it would be if she did wind up mayor? It would be great for my business, but not for the City of Oakland. Ruby would use the office to take personal vendettas out on people she didn’t like – your tax dollars.

But, I was willing to not blog about that, and save for her so-called police hiring plan that wasn’t, I managed to even say that she was gaining ground. Oh, Lord, what did I do that for?

Courtney has not changed. She’s still the same mean and vindictive person who almost got Desley Brooks thrown in jail last year. When my friend who’s running for Mayor told her that she would miss the Oakland Sports Forum, Courtney said “Like I care.” Well fine, Courtney, because I do care. It’s a great platform to show Oaklanders what your plan for sports economic development is – if you have one. But hey, “Like I care” means you don’t care at all. So under your watch we would lose all of our sports teams and why? Because you don’t care.
