Lilly Singh #AskSuperwoman Hits Twitter Trend Worldwide

tumblr_mkcs85Qyc81rv1bg6o1_400Lilly Singh is someone I’d never heard of until after I noticed that the hashtag #AskSuperwoman was trending on Twitter “worldwide.” Given my affinity for Super Women I had to click and see what was going on.

I found Lilly, but she really needs to add some biceps to be a Super Woman. That said, she’s hot.

The result was a mass of Twitter tweets related to her YouTube livestream that’s going on as I write this.

She has a stream of over 2,000 viewers at any one time. That’s equal to a small cable television channel on Comcast. But she spent nothing to make it happen. Well, if you don’t count the 2 million subscribers she has, and that’s borne of YouTube’s push to promote commedy over news commentary. It used to be the Phil De Franco’s of the World who had such attention, but now YouTube pushes commedians, and that’s what Lilly is.

I mean her livestream is Lilly talking about, well, nothing at times. She’s answering to specific people and so because of the nature of whatever they’re asking, it doesn’t make any sense at times – ok, more often than not.

But the development of this kind of audience is intensely fascinating to me.
