Atlanta and Georgia’s governments were clearly not prepared for Winter Storm Leon, and the residents should have remained at home, to be sure. But that didn’t happen, and the result was thousands stranded and in many cases far away from home, out in the cold.
Fortunately, social media – Facebook and Twitter primarily – have been used to connect those who need help, with those who can provide it. There are at least three Facebook pages that have been dedicated to the task of helping those trapped somewhere because of the Atlanta snow storm of 2014:

Scott Thompson I would like to thank the creator, as well the person who created this page. I abandoned my vehicle and walking 3 or ao miles and finally made it to the Home Depot off of 82 just past 575 for giving me shelter from the storm at 3:00 am this morning. Had it not been for this page, I might very well not be posting and counting my blessings today. As tomorrow is promised to know man, and this was just a reminder of that fact to me personally.
