Mariano Rivera’s last week with the New York Yankees and Major League Baseball was this week. After 19 seasons, 652 saves and 952 career finishes, perhaps the greatest closer – the Sandman – exits the game he loved for so long, and it loved him back.

Think about it. For 19 seasons and 20 years, Mariano Rivera never caused bad off-the-field news, was never the target of an angry rant, and just played the game better than anyone else.

The measure of Mariano Rivera’s life and how well he was regarded was seen in the many tributes given to him at the many stadiums he played at this year.

There will never be another Mariano Rivera.

Stay tuned.
