Godzilla 2014 Release Date Moved To Summer 2014?
Alexandre Desplat is the Godzilla 2014 composer, and that was directly from a call this blogger made to Kraft-Engel, where Laura Engel is Mr. Desplat’s agent.
The news that Mr. Desplat was going to score the next Godzilla movie came from a source on a message board called FSM Board, or Film Score Monthly. And that source was said to have been “Legendary Pictures Online” – but there was no official word from Legendary Pictures. What the person was referring to is a very obscure, hard to find, listing about the movie at the Legendary Pictures website.
In other words, Legendary Pictures never made an official announcement, and Warner Bros sure as hell didn’t either.
That underscores (excuse the pun) the marketing and PR problems Godzilla 2014 has faced thus far. Normally, a studio will issue a press release that, for example, they’ve hired Alexandre Desplat for the Godzilla movie, and post it. In this case, the information was found by a fan and distributed and done do without confirmation, until now.
Who Is Alexandre Desplat?
Alexandre Desplat has been nominated for Film Composer of the Year by the International Film Music Critics Association in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2011 and won the award in 2007. He has been nominated for the Oscar five times, and has made music for 147 film titles.
But not even his IMDB page lists Godzilla as one of them. Time for an update.
Stay tuned.
