Time flies when you’re having fun. It feels like only yesterday that the Baltimore Ravens were crowned Super Bowl Champions, now we’re less than a week from the 2013 season; time for the Ravens to defend their title.
The Ravens went through countless changes over the past year. In 2012 they constantly shuffled the roster due to injuries. After the season they lost players due to free agency, trade and retirement. Then they acquired new players via free agency and the NFL Draft.
So here we are (and yes “Here We Are” is the Ravens 2013 motto), about to start the new season, but are we ready to defend the title? I have questions; I hope I like the answers…
The Ravens have quarterback Joe Flacco, but who will be his security blanket? Will it be another tight end or will he look for Torrey Smith?
What kind of season will Flacco have? Will the Ravens go back to running the ball? I want to see the play calling offensive coordinator Jim Caldwell creates and how much they pass vs. run.
I’m most excited about the “new” defense! The defensive talent should make the Ravens faster and stronger. I feared linebacker Elvis Dumervil when he played for the Denver Broncos and I hope other teams feel the same when he lines up next to Terrell Suggs.
While I don’t expect a repeat, I don’t have any expectations this season, but there are things I hope to see…
I want Flacco to step it up all season; it would be awesome for him to bring his playoff magic every Sunday. I want to see a new star on the Ravens receiving core, I believe we have a diamond in the rough waiting to shine. Finally I want to see a rejuvenated and feared Ravens defense. I miss them and I hope replenishing the D line brings it back.
Good luck this season. I’m ready for some football, let the games begin!
How do you think the Ravens will perform this season?
