Oklahoma Tornado: Storm Chasers Killed

The latest Oklahoma Tornado news is that one of the storm chasers who have given us some of the fantastic videos we have seen were among 13 killed by twisters in Central OK on Friday.

And that is on top of the five killed in Northern Oklahoma the day before, on Thursday.

Tim Samaras was killed by a tornado in the Oklahoma City suburb of El Reno, which is the same place where a mother and child were killed while in their SUV Thursday.

Samaras was founder of the tornado research company Twistex, and became a well-known storm chaser. He was killed along with his son, Paul Samaras, 24, and Carl Young, a Twistex meteorologist, according Jim Samaras from several sources. They formed the cast of the Discovery show Storm Chasers.

“He’s mostly going to be remembered as somebody who tried to help save lives,” Jim Samaras said. “He died doing what he loved and literally put his life on the line to save others.”

RIP.

Stay tuned.
