The MIT Shooting caught an already on-edge America off guard on the day of the release of photos of alleged at-large suspects in the Boston Marathon Bombing.
UPDATE: the police officer reported as in the hospital is now dead. Really sad:

From a police scanner, what this blogger has been able to determine is that at 10:48 PM today gunshots were reported near MIT Building 32 (Stata). A person who was later identified (but this is not certain) as a “dark white male” was said to have taken the police officer’s gun from him, and shot him with it. The officer is now at Massachusetts General Hospital.
The photo, from Twitter, is an overhead of the scene as of 11:26 PM EST.
The obvious question is, is this at all connected with the Boston Marathon Bombing, and the answer is I have no idea.
As of 11:47, the situation is “still active” and people are being asked to stay inside. The MIT Emergency Website says:
Update on shooter incident. Responding agencies continue to investigate the situation. The scene is outside of Building 32 (Stata) and 76 (Koch) near Vassar and Main Streets. Injuries have been reported. The situation is still very active and we ask everyone to stay inside.
There is just too much going on:
Marathon bombing, poisoned letter to president and MS senator, Texas plant explosion, and now a shooting at MIT in Boston.

And add to that a Cal LA Bomb threat, too. Nuts.
