Mads Mikkelsen, US Premier Of ‘The Hunt,’ At Sonoma International Film Festival

Mads Mikkelsen, the 2012 Best Actor Winner at the Cannes Film Festival for The Hunt, and who’s part of a large media blitz for the new NBC TV Series Hannibal, is coming to The Sonoma International Film Festival April 10th-April 14th, where The Hunt will be shown in the US for the first time.

thehuntThe Hunt is a 2012 Danish film drama directed by Thomas Vinterberg and starring Mads Mikkelsen as as Lucas. The website for the film says that “Mads Mikkelsen plays Lucas, a highly-regarded school teacher who has been forced to start over having overcome a tough divorce. Just as things are starting to go his way, his life is shattered. An untruthful remark throws the small community into a collective state of hysteria. The lie is spreading and Lucas is forced to fight a lonely fight for his life and dignity.”

Available on DVD and BlueRay,The Hunt has been called “one of last year’s most powerful, relevant and thought provoking films.” It collected several prestigious awards, including the British Independent Film Award for Best International Independent Film, while Mikkelsen earned the best actor selection from the 33rd Critics’ Circle Awards.

Mads Mikkelsen’s role has been called “career defining.”
