The Academy Awards are three days away, and it’s time for predictions. Here’s this blogger’s hypothesis: Lincoln will win ‘Best Picture’ at the Academy Awards. Note that, I said “hypotehesis,” because that means ‘educated guess, based on study.’

The reason for Lincoln as my selection goes like this: about 70 percent of the time in Oscars History, the winner of the Director’s Guild Award for Best Director goes on to win Best Director at The Academy Awards, and that, in turn, leads to a ‘Best Picture’ win for that movie the director was responsible for.
Well, guess what: the DGA winner this year, 2013, was not Steven Spielberg for Lincoln, but Ben Affleck for Argo – that means Argo will Best Picture at the Oscars, right?
Right. Except that Mr.Affleck wasn’t even nominated for Best Picture. That leaves the field wide open for the legendary Mr. Spielberg.
