Coach Dykes and the former Kate Golding have been married since 2006 and have two daughters, one four and the other 18 months old, as of October.
Sonny Dykes is one of the original architects of the Airraid Offense, and coached Louisiana Tech to 2011 WAC Champions, and in 2012 had the nation’s best offensive attack.
Dykes was selected over former Oakland Raiders Head Coach Hue Jackson. It’s said that Louisville Head Coach Charlie Strong was also contacted, but has turned down all offers and elected to remain at Louisville. Cal Football still has a track record of never once hiring a qualified black candidate.
