Comacho was with a childhood friend Adrian Mojica Moreno, 49, who was killed in the incident. Police said two assailants fled in an SUV, but no arrests had been made and no motive had been disclosed.
Mr. Comacho is 50 years of age, posted an amazing record of 79 wins against just three losses and six ties, and was planning a comeback. After recent years that were marked by getting into trouble, with a robbery charge, domestic violence claims by his wife, and drugs and alcohol, it looked like he was settling down and on the path to rise again.
