When You Have A Friend In Tel Aviv, Israel War News Looks Different

This Huff Post headline: “Hamas Rockets Tel Aviv Amid Israel Ceasefire In Gaza ” – may be all that you see about the news of war in Israel if you’re an American. Let’s face it, most of us will not know the details about what’s going on over there, because it’s over there, not over here. That is, until you gain friends in Israel, and especially in Tel Aviv.

Being in the tech business will do that: bring you friends from around the World, and broaden your horizons. After a time, your reading list expands beyond The New York Times to include The Sun, The Telegraph UK, Paris Match, Al Jazeera, Israel News, Twitter, and whatever blog publication from whatever country you happen across and use Google Translate to read. In this case, my fear motivates me to read.

My fear that I will lose my friend and business partner; she says she’s safe and away from the bombs – I only know what I read. I pray that she is unharmed and that her family is far away from the bombs. But I also wish we as a World would stop this knee-jerk need to kill each other.

Stay tuned.
