Oakland Mayor Jean Quan Meets Press After Car Accident

Oakland Mayor Jean Quan is meeting with the local Oakland / San Francisco Bay Area press in the wake of Sunday’s car accident. It’s an incident that’s falling into a war of words between witnesses who claim she was using her cell phone, and Quan, who says she was not.

I’m in Georgia, but I received the media advisory, which had this paragraph in it:

A number of you are asking for an on-camera or on-tape statement from Mayor Quan regarding yesterday’s collision. We don’t have significantly more information than we had last night and OPD continues to investigate the circumstances of the collision itself. However, in the interest of transparency and accessibility, Mayor Quan will be available to make a statement at 10:30 a.m. today outside the 14th Street entrance to City Hall.
