Oakland Mayor Jean Quan Car Accident happened Monday, and witnesses say that they saw her run a red light at Market Street and 26th while, she says, going between community events (and I do believe her, so don’t misunderstand that.)
The driver of the car that was badly damaged says that Quan was texting and not driving. But that detail aside, this is certain the worst moment in her time as Mayor of Oakland.
Oakland Mayor Jean Quan has a car and driver problem before. It was in May of 2013, when her husband, the good doctor Floyd Huen, got behind the wheel, and appeared to be drunk.
A woman also said that he got into an argument with her at Art Murmur and had smelled of alcohol.
I said then, that Mayor Quan nor Dr. Huen should be driving behind the wheel, and the action should be left to a professional driver. Quan’s supporters said she was a “new kind of Mayor” of Oakland. That it proves she’s “one of the people”

Well, I said it then, and I’ll say it again: the Oakland Mayor’s Office is not for everyone, nor should it be. This is the result of an idea that is just not workable in reality.
