The Oakland Athletics have done the impossible. They came back from two runs down in the 9th inning to win the ALDS Game 4, 4-3, forcing a deciding Game 5, and making Oakland Sports History.
While Tuesday night’s 2-0 win was a joy to behold and had Oakland A’s fans high-fiving all over the place…
This one, where this blogger watched the game at The Alley in Oakland, was totally, shockingly, stunningly, amazing.
In winning Game 5, this 2012 Oakland A’s squad became just the second A’s team in the organization’s storied history to win after being down two runs in the 9th inning of a postseason game. The last time? 1929.
This is 2012, and with hypermedia, and all that goes with the 21st Century, the energy from this amazing contest was felt around the World. Coca Crisp, the A’s great batter, became a Twitter Top Trend tonight.
But for a long time, it looked like the Detroit Tigers were going to put together great, timely defensive plays, with quick bats to close the deal and win the ALDS in Oakland, in Game 4.
But there’s something about this A’s organization that just won’t say die. As a neighbor here in Oakland pointed out, there were any number of amazing wins this year. His favorite was “The Hawk Game” where the A’s came back from down 4-2 against the Seattle Mariners in the 8th inning to win, just after a large hawk circled overhead.
This is without a doubt, one of the greatest victories in Oakland Sports History.
Stay tuned.
