It was the Indianapolis Colts hosting the supposedly better Green Bay Packers, but any real football fan knows it was really Cal vs. Stanford, NFL-style. That’s because Stanford’s Andrew Luck became Indy’s first-pick in the 1st Round of The 2012 NFL Draft, and declared to this blogger that the one thing he would miss about leaving Stanford was…
Beating Cal.
Andrew Luck has lost to Cal only once, in 2009,…
Where we relive fond memories of a Big Game win….
and you’ve got to believe he didn’t want to lose to Cal again in the NFL. Yes, the other motivating factor was the hospitalization of Colts Head Coach Chuck Pagano, who’s battling leukemia, but let’s face it: Luck’s a Cardinal and Rodgers is a Cal Bear.
Luck’s Cardinals (Colts) came from being down 21-3 to win the game 30-27. The Colts are now 2-2, and Luck looks every bit like the best QB taken. Andrew was 31 of 55 for 362 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. By contrast, Aaron Rogers was 21 of 33 for 243 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. Rogers had the better rating – 103 to 81 – but Luck had the benefit of five second-half sacks by the Colts Defense.
Luck gets the first Cal-Stanford Big Game in in the NFL.
