Happy Birthday Zennie! Hope you have a fabulous day. This piece is for your “Zennie62 Blog Action Day” and as you wished, here are my thoughts on getting older…
You asked me to talk about my favorite movie. When I started thinking about it, I realized that I don’t have one favorite movie; I have “favorites”, but not one in particular.
Some years ago I realized that I hadn’t seen most of the movies on AFI’s top movies of all time. I made it my “hobby” to watch many movies on the list. I watched many classic movies, ones I had never seen, award winning movies with award winning actors.
I didn’t love all of them, but I gained a new appreciation for classic movies, especially ones in black and white. One of my favorites is The Philadelphia Story with Katharine Hepburn, Jimmy Stewart and Cary Grant.
I fell in love with everything about the movie; it seemed way ahead of its time for that decade. It was well written, funny and timeless.
Another classic movie I had never seen in its entirely until I started my list was the Godfather. I had only seen bits and pieces, but never the whole thing. Such a great movie, so many famous lines in pop culture and brilliantly casted, always love seeing a young Al Pacino and Diane Keaton.
I love cheesy 80s movies too, but I have a special fondness for the classics, they are timeless and timeless things make people feel young.
So for me getting older means getting wiser and learning to appreciate the little things in life such as great classic movies.
Happy Birthday Zennie!
