One day, Sharon Osbourne is boycotting the equally legendary Beverly Hills Hotel, and for something really beyond its direct control right now: the ownership of its parent company The Dorchester Group by the anti-gay Sultan of Brunei and the small nation, which recently considered adopting a harsh anti-gay stance, following the basic policy of Islamic countries and of The United Arab Emirates.
Ms. Osborne put out this Twitter tweet on April 28th:
Please join me in BOYCOTTING @BevHillsHotel, @HotelBelAir and all @DC_LuxuryHotels. http://t.co/Vr53tTuCld

Then Osbourne kept up with the status of change in Brunei, but even as the Sultan made this remark on May 1st – “With faith and gratitude to Allah the almighty, I declare that tomorrow, Thursday May 1, 2014, will see the enforcement of sharia law phase one, to be followed by the other phases” – Osbourne’s band Black Sabbath was planning a concert in, of all places, anti-gay Abu Dhabi?
Last week May 29th, that Black Sabbath concert took place in Abu Dhabi. And guess who was at the press conference for that event in anti-gay Abu Dhabi on Wednesday May 28th? Sharon Osbourne and Ozzy Osbourne! In fact, the pair left Los Angeles International Airport with photogs in pursuit, May 22nd. Eventual destination? The Middle East. And GulfNews.com reported this on May 28th:
Heavy metal godfathers Ozzy Osbourne (with wife Sharon in tow, happy to stop for signatures and selfies), Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler — all founding members of Black Sabbath — arrived at the presidential suite of the Shangri-La hotel in Abu Dhabi for a press conference on Wednesday afternoon dressed aptly in all-black, save for Osbourne’s grey blazer, a studded gold necklace and his signature bulky rings and jangly bracelets. We can’t forget the iconic circular sunnies and perfectly painted nails to prove he was no imposter, of course.

And at the press conference in Abu Dhabi Mr. Osborne said “I never realized that the Middle East liked our kind of music.”
And here’s a Twitter tweet right from Sharon’s (Is it really?) smartphone!

So, will someone ask Sharon Osbourne how’s the Beverly Hills Hotel boycott going? Then, ask her to explain why she has no problem helping people in Anti-Gay Abu Dhabi make money from the Black Sabbath concert held there, when she and others want to make the American workers at the Beverly Hills Hotel economically suffer, even though neither they, or their owner firm The Dorchester Group, are anti-gay?
Sometimes people just do things based on emotion and without thought. The bottom line is the Sultan of Brunei’s not going to sell a property who’s very value has been inflated by the boycott, even while its workers get hurt in the pocketbook, and Sharon Osbourne runs around the World acting like a hypocrite.
It really makes no sense at all.
