Ann Romney’s trying to paint herself as the example of a stay-at-home Mom, in the wake of a blast by Democratic Strategist Hilary Rosen that the wife of the wealthy Mitt Romney did not know what it was like to actually be a working woman. Ann Romney claims she made a choice to be a stay-at-home Mom, but that decision was helped by, well, The Help. Ann Romney has had maids, and yes, more than one of them.
According to records, Mitt and Ann Romney had four maids in 2010: Rosania Costa who made $4,808, Kelli Harrison ($8,667), Susan Moore ($2,238) and Valerie Cravens Anae ($4,890). That totals just $20,603, and that was just for one home that Mitt and Ann Romney own; the Romneys possess three houses – a 2,000 sq. ft. townhouse in Belmont, Mass., a 5,400 sq. ft. lake house on eleven acres in Wolfeboro, N.H., and a large beach house in the expensive town of La Jolla, Calif., that is undergoing renovations to double its size – it will have a four auto garage with an elevator for the cars.
But the question is, who’s cleaning their other homes? That’s not answered at all, but the bottom line is that Ann Romney elected to stay at home because her husband asked her to and he could afford to get her the help she needed.
Many working women can’t.
