Maya Angelou My Mom Remembers Her At Black Filmmakers HOF Oakland Maya Angelou passed away Wednesday, and as I am in Georgia with my Mom, I wanted to interview her about her rememberance of the great poet.
Mom met Maya Angelou during the 1974 Black Filmmakers Hall of Fame Gala. My Mom’s job was to shadow Ms. Angelou at the time. She specifically remembers some advice Maya Angelou gave to her.
At the time, my Mom was being considered for a promotion at United Airlines. She asked Ms. Angelou for her impression of what she needed to improve on. Maya Angelou told her she was just fine, but needed to listen.
It was good advice Mom remembers to this day. http://ift.tt/1mJ0qFS
