After the New England Patriot’s Super Bowl XLVI loss to the NY Giants, Gisele Bundchen, the wife of Pats QB Tom Brady was headed to an elevator, surrounded by an entourage, and while her back was turned to everyone (she was facing a wall), Ms. Bundchen said in response to a question by a friend, that Brady “Can’t throw the ball and catch, too.” It was an obvious reference to the many dropped passes Patriots’s receivers made at important points in the game, including two straight drops to open the Pats final drive of the game.
But in the digital age, there’s always a really good microphone to pick up anything an A-list star says, and such was true for Bundchen. The next day, Gisele’s comment was national news, and compelled NY Giants Running Back Brandon Jacobs to say that she should “Be cute and shut up.”
Now, to the mind of this blogger that was just plain sexist. If the comments were made by a Pats player, Jacobs would not have told that person to “Be cute and shut up.”
Jacobs was wrong, and the good news is that on ESPN Radio’s Doug Gottlieb Show tonight, Jacobs said so.
Stay tuned for the update.
