Channing Tatum Hosts Saturday Night Live, With Man-Love Overtones

Channing Tatum Loses His Shirt
From the opening monologue to a segment where he plays a man-in-drag-loving Tom Brady, Channing Tatum played host to Saturday Night Live with a hilarious agenda of showing his male stripper past, as well as what appears to be a closet interest in men. The common perception is that women think Channing Tatum, the actor who played in such movies as G.I. Joe, is hot, so it must have been upsetting for them to see Tatum in skits where his affection for men was on display.

And that brings up a question that has to be asked: why is it we’re seeing more male to male romances than straight interracial parings? Is it because they’re white male, versus black male / white female? Just asking the question other publications seem afraid to ask. But we have to ask ourselves what kind of images are we collectively putting out as a culture, and to what end? Are we being forced to accept seeing men in love with each other over straight interracial pairings?

But I digress.

Channing Tatum did a boffo job as host of SNL, and took on his outrageous roles with gusto. And we now know why Newt Gingrich should not be in charge on the Moon. But funnier still was Kristen Wiig playing past SNL musical guest Lana Del Rey, and saying “Based on the public’s response, I must have clubbed a baby seal while singing the Taliban national anthem.”

Bon Iver A Different Musical Taste

The folk band Bon Iver offered a different musical taste that this blogger had to get used to. They have a sound that’s, well, depressing. To me it wasn’t in the spirit of Saturday Night Live, so it took some getting used to, the sound of Bon Iver.

Sorry to end on a downer, but congrats to Channing Tatum for knocking his hosting role out of the park.

Stay tuned.
