Jon Huntsman didn’t spend any time in Iowa – he didn’t feel as though Iowa was worth it. It may have been him that said “Iowa picks corn, New Hampshire picks presidents.”
New York Daily News reports that Huntsman is banking on a strong NH primary performance.
Recently some Ron Paul supporters made a video that targeted Huntsman’s daughters:
“”If someone wants to poke fun at me, that’s okay,” said Huntsman, whose team has branded Paul as unelectable. “What I object to is bringing forward pictures and videos of my adopted daughters and suggesting there’s something sinister there.” “
Spokesperson for Ron Paul, Kate Schackai called it distasteful and said anyone supporting Ron Paul wouldn’t have made such a video. It has since been pulled from the Internet.
A lot of people say Romney will win New Hampshire, some say Santorum, quite a few say Ron Paul, but Huntsman really put all his eggs in one basket and the future of his campaign really is riding on how he does in the NH primary.
Boston Globe even has an article calling Huntsman the “sane Republican,” which is the consensus from a lot of Democrats:
“After sitting out the Iowa caucuses and investing all his hopes in this state, Huntsman has struggled to find a voice that resonates with voters. The former Utah governor is proud to announce that he’s no longer “the margin-of-error candidate” — in New Hampshire, at least. But he’ll need to do far better than that for his campaign to continue after Tuesday’s primary.”
There’s a Republican Debate tonight and tomorrow morning, let’s see how it goes.
